About

Founder Mitch Lavin

I have been playing guitar and bass for over 30 years. Over those years, I have performed with numerous bands and played in some of Chicago’s most reputable local venues including: The Cubby Bear, Elbow Room, The Beat Kitchen, Space in Evanston, Durty Nellies (Palatine), Hog Head McDunnas, and the Double Door. I have been teaching guitar professionally since 1999 and have a current client base of over 50 full and part-time students.

My Gear

My guitar collection includes: Paul Reed Smith Holopwbody II, Tom Anderson Cobra S, USACG Stratocaster, K-Line Truxton (Tele), Collings OM2H-C, and a Fender J-Bass. I use Fractal Axe-Fx III and a Fractal FM3 for teaching/gigging/session work.

My Influences

Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, John Mayer, Steve Vai, Al Di Meola, Alex Lifeson, Neal Schon, Larry Carlton and more that I’m forgetting.
